Former AMC Councillor apprehends threat to his life

Ara : Bhojpur District Public Grievance Redressal Officer, on the basis of a CID report, has requested Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar and SP Awakash Kumar to ensure security and safety of former Councillor, Ward No. 45, AMC, Amrendra Kumar Choubey. The CID apprehended threat to Choubey’s life.

Choubey said that he and his family are living under constant fear as he divulged the misappropriation of fund and irregularities in Ara Municipal Corporation (AMC) and if anything untoward happenes to him, the district administration would be responsible for it. He said that he wrote to the President of India, Prime Minister, Chief Minister, Governor, Chief Secretary, Director General of Police, and the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding threat to his life and demanded security for himself.

Choubey said that the former Mayor, AMC, is a influential person and his wife Priyam Devi is at present the Mayor of the AMC. He added that the Cuncillor, Ward No 45, Renu Devi had raised the matter of financial irregularities at the meeting of the AMC, but the Mayor and some Ward Councillors allegedly abused her on caste line. Police also refused to lodge an FIR in this regard. At this she wrote to the President, Chief Minister, DGP and other ministers of the state.

Finally, on the direction of the President, a named FIR was lodged with Nawada police station against Mayor, Priyam Devi, AMC, former Mayor, AMC, Sunil Kumar, Tax Collector, Ward Nos 43, 44, 45 Ashok Yadav, Councillor, ward no 37, Sita Devi, and two others under section 341, 504, 506 and 34 IPC and also under SC/ST Atrocity Act on the statement of Renu Devi, Choubey added. He  said that after institution of FIR, he is being compelled to withdraw the case.

He said that the Bhojpur SP on June 4, 2018, and the inquiry report of DSP, Special Branch, had  recommended security and bodyguard to him but no security was provided to him even after a month.

When contacted, Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that he has not received any letter regarding security to Amrendra Choubey and if such letter is received, he will provide security after verification without delay.
