Bagaha: The construction of a 500 metre PCC road at a cost of about Rs 12 lakh on Bagaha-1 block premises in West Champaran district has triggered controversy as the Block Development Officer (BDO) Anand Kumar Vibhuti refused to give the name of the contractor.

When SDM Bagaha Dharmendar kumar inquired about it, he was surprised by the BDO’s reply. The BDO, in his letter dated July 7, 016,  neither disclosed the name of contractor nor estimated cost of the scheme but  admited that the scheme was passed at a recent meeting of Block panchayat Samiti. The BDO also informed the SDM that on June 12 and June 22, 2016, he was not present at his office when the casting  of PCC was done. The BDO denied he had given administrative sanction to the scheme. When this reporter tried to seek the comments of the BDO on the matter, he said he had reported everything to the SDM. Meanwhile, the SDM said that had he not inquired about the matter, the scheme would have been given back dated sanction and payment would have been made.
