Ara: Working in all the nationalized and private banks were badly hit on Friday in Bhojpur district as all the bank employees went on a day long strike under the banner of United Forum of Bank Unions in protest against what they called anti-employee policy of the government. The bank employees went on strike to press their three point demand.

The bank employees took out procession and forced all the banks to close their offices. The functioning of The State Bank of India, Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, Union Bank, Canara Bank, Oriental Bank of Commerce, IDBI, HDFC, Axis, Vijaya Bank, all branches of Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank, Central Cooperative Bank, Allahabad Bank and others remained paralysed due to the striek.The striking employees also staged demonstration in front of the regional office of the Punjab National Bank. raising slogans against the central government.

Ashok Singh, general secretary, Bihar Private Bank Employees Association, said that the union government had announced banking reforms and merger of associates banks with the State Bank of India. He salleged that the government was instrumental in sanction of huge loans to the corporate houses.
