Patna: Colourful handbills and posters mark the campaign for the election of Patna High Court Advocates Association office-bearers scheduled for May 13.Interesting slogans and appeals by the lawyers have been printed on the handbills and displayed on the posters hanging in different parts on the court premises.
For the first time,large number of women lawyers have also entered the fray.Association has about 4,000 members and election is being held for about 100 posts-from president to assistant secretary and executive committee members.

One of the candidates for the post f president Harendra Pratap Singh, in his coloured handbill, has promised air-conditioners and heaters for the lawyers during summer and winter seasons in their chambers. Singh, in his three-point manifesto, has promised Rs 25 lakh as ex-gratia to the families of deceased advocates from lawyers’ welfare fund. Purushottam Kumar Das, contesting for the office of secretary general, is seeking votes for coordial relations between the bench and bar, proper sitting arrangement for advocates and a rich library.
One of the candidates for vice-president, in his pamphlet, says, “Vote on serial number one and make Chaubey Baba no 1″. He is Jawahar Chaubey.
Another candidate for secretary general simply wishes”Have a Nice Day” and seeks their support and votes.
Among,the women candidates,Chhaya Mishra, seeking votes for joint secretary, in her small but multi-colour manifesto, has declared she would work free for the poor litigants and solve the long standing problems of the association ,enhance the arrangements for lawyers and through the association fund improve the conditions of the association building and chambers..She was seen moving in all halls and chambers on the penultimate day of campaign and approaching advocates for their votes.
Yogesh Chandra Verma, a senior designated lawyer, is actively campaigning for the office of president.
