Ara : A married woman Neeka Devi was burnt to death at village Pawar under Pawana police station in Bhojpur district for a motorcycle as dowry. A named FIR was lodged with Pawana police station against three persons: husband of the deceased, father-in-law and brothrer-in-law (devar) on the statement of the deceased but no arrest has so far been made in this connection.

SHO, Pawana police station, Ram Iqbal Singh said that Neeka Devi of village Laxmanpur under Ara Muffassil police station was married to Rakesh Singh of village Pawar under Pawana police station six years ago and ever since was allegedly being tortured for a motorcycle by her in-laws. When their demand was fulfilled, they allegedly sprinkled kerosene oil and set her ablaze on July 11, 2018, and escaped. The villagers admitted her to a private clinic and when her condition did not improve, she was shifted to Sadar Hospital, Ara, on August 3, 2018, where she succumbed to her burn injuries on August 4.
