Ara: Five persons including a teenage girl drowned in river Ganga at different places in Bhojpur district on  August 16 but the villagers saved the lives of two.

Three youths were drowned in swollen Ganga at Tenua village under Ara Muffassil police station on Tuesday but the villagers saved two of them:  Ajit Kumar, son of Jagnnath Yadav, and Pappu Kumar, son of Krishna Yadav,  of village Khajuria under Ara Muffassil police station and admitted them to Ara Sadar Hospital where the doctors referred them to Patna Medical College and Hospital. The villagers fished out the body of one Vineet Kumar Singh, 19, son of GRP personnel Jaswant Singh, on Tuesday and brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

In another incident, Kamlesh Yadav, 35, son of Shiv Janam Yadav of Shivpur village under Barahara police station  drowned in swirling Ganga when he had gone to the bank of the river for cutting on August 16 evening. Later, the villagers fished out the body and brought it to Ara Sada Hospital for post-mortem.

Ruby Kumari, 12, Laxman Ram of Barap village under Garhani police station drowned at Banas village under Garhani police station but her body is yet to be found. A team of SDRF has been requisitioned for the purpose.
