Sasaram : Two cousin sisters : Pooja Kumari, 20, and Manish Kumari, 16, were swept away in the fast current in a canal at village Zakkhi Bigaha under Dehari-on-Sone police station in Rohtas district on August 28, 2018, evening, when they had gone there to throw Dashkarm ritual materials of their grandmother into it. Their bodies had not been fished out till the time of reporting. Rohtas district administration closed the gate of the Indrapuri barrage and pressed divers into operation to fish out the bodies but all efforts have proved futile so far.

Dashkarm of Shyam Sundar Devi, mother of Ram Naresh Prasad Kashyap and Ashok Prasad Kashyap, was performed at their house at Zakkhi Bigaha village on August 27 and Pooja Kumari and Manisha Kumari had gone t to the canal of the village to throw the remains of ‘dashkarm’ into it.

As Pooja Kumari tried to throw the remains into the canal, her legs slipped and she fell into the swollen canal. She called her cousin sister Manish Kumari for help who went there and was also trapped in the fast current and within no time both the sisters were swept away in the fast current. Pooja Kumari was a student of BA part III at Baba Ganinath College whereas Manisha Kumari was a student of Intermediate at Mahila College, Dalmianagar.
