Sasaram : Some unidentified miscreants stole a 150 year old sundial from Aniket area populated by police officials at Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas District in South Bihar. The miscreants damaged the sundial and stole its iron blade.

The British Governor had started a mechanical workshop at Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas District in 19th century with a view to developing Sone Canal system and hi got the Sundial made in the year 1871 for the labourers employed at the mechanical workshop. The Sundial showed exact time at an interval of every half- an-hour and was used from dawn to dusk. The Sundial showed right time even today. It was there unprotected since. People from remote corner of the country visited the area to have a glance of the sundial. But at last, the miscreants stole it.

DIG, Shahabad Range, Upendra Sharma, SP, Rohtas, Ashish Bharati, BMP-2 Commandant, Swapna Jee Meshram, and ASP Dr Navjot Simi lived in this area and their offices are also there.

People of the area got agitated and blamed local administration for the theft and informed police about the incident. Police rushed to the spot and started investigating the matter and are also conducting raids to arrest the miscreants.
