Patna : Police seized 92 vehicles and a fine of Rs 41, 24,200 was realiszed from them in a drive against stonechip and sand mafias that continued for the second consecutive day on August 6, 2018. Zonal IG, Patna, N H Khan had directed for action against such dealers in cities on GT Road under the zone.
It may be mentioned here that after ban on sand mining on July 31, sand was being sold on high prices after storing them. Black-marketing of stonechips was going on and complaints of over-loading were being received. On August 5, altogether 297 vehicles were seized and Rs 13. 66 lakh was realised from them as fine.
On IG Khan’s directive, raids were carried out in Gaya, Aurangabad, Rohtas and Kaimur districts. The alleged of involvement of some policemen in this illegal trade is also being probed, sources said.
