Saharsa : The villagers blocked traffic on Saurbazaar – Patarghat road for five hours from 7 am on August 23, 2017, following death of Mohd Junab, 47, a resident of village Pulaghat under Saurbazaar police station in Saharsa district due to electrocution in the early morning when he was going to a safer place on a boat to attend the call of the nature. The boat came in contact with a 11,000 volt live electric wire and as a result Junab died due to electrocution.

The Saurbazaar – Patarghat road remained blocked till 12 noon. The villagers, who were raising slogans against the power authorities, alleged the 11,000 volt live electric wire had been lying placed on a bamboo pole for the last five years. SHO, Saurbazaar police station, Manish Kumar Rajak reached the spot and persuaded the villagers to lift the blockade by assuring them that the electric wire would be placed at a proper place. He also told them that the next of kin of the deceased would get adequate compensation.
