Sasaram: An FIR was lodged with Suryapura police station in Rohtas district on Wednesday against a paddy procurement centre incharge, Suryapura, in connection with alleged misappropriation of over Rs 44 lakh. District Manager (DM), FCI, Dinesh Prasad Singh lodged a named FIR with Suryapura police station against the Suryapura paddy procurement centre incharge Shambhu Singh in connection with embezzlement of over Rs 44 lakh.
The District Manager, FCI, said that the paddy procurement centre incharge Shambhu Singh had procured 36,958 quintal paddy from the farmers at government rate in 2013-2014 but only 34,135 quintal of paddy was supplied while 2,822 quintal of paddy was kept in the godown. The cost of the paddy kept in godown was over Rs 44lakh calculated at the rate of Rs 1,560 per quintal. This paddy was later auctioned and not given to the millers. He had sought written or verbal explanation from Shambhu Singh several times but he never replied hence an FIR was lodged with Suryapura police station against him.
