Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : The students of Class XII commerce batch of DPS Bokaro on August 4, 2018, a vibrant fete ‘RIVAAYAT- 2018’.  It was attended by students of Classes VI to XII with enthusiasm. The fete was inaugurated by Chief Guest Dr Ashok Singh, Principal, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, along with the Guest of Honour Jose Thomas, Principal, GGPS, Chas, and Dr Hemlata S Mohan, Director and Principal of DPS Bokaro.

The chief guest appreciated the effort of the commerce department and the school for organising such an event. He suggested the students should focus on three important elements : Taking care of one’s body, Keeping the mind positive, and exhibit correct behaviour, apart from being good in all their action to be successful in life.

Appreciating the efficient leadership and guidance of Dr Mohan as the president of Dr Radhakrishnan Sahodaya School Complex, Jose Thomas remarked that the schools of Bokaro are running effectively and smoothly.

Dr Mohan said, “Students must know the practical application of the knowledge imparted in the classrooms.” She remarked that such events create an opportunity for students to learn managerial skills like time management, event management and its practical applications.

The aim of the fete was to facilitate ‘learning by doing’. After studying the principles of Business Studies, the students endeavoured to perform five functions of management – Planning, Organizing, Staffing, Directing and Controlling. The Commerce students working relentlessly for this event were also able to raise funds as profit which shall be used for charity.

Bright posters, balloons, decorations adorned the venue of the fete creating a carnival like ambience for the students to enjoy and to have ‘hands on’ experience of learning by doing. Wonderfully decorated foodstalls were put up by the student including the Chaat Stall, Momos Stall, Soda Stall, Ice-cream Stall and Pastry Stall.

Vice Principal Pravin Sharma, Dr Manisha Tiwari, P Shailaja Jaykumar Headmaster Anjani Bhushan, Headmistresses Shalini Sharma, Manisha Sharma and Sunita Bhardwaj were also present along with other teachers and students. The event was co-ordinated by Dr Urvashi Talwar.
