Ranchi (Jharkhand) : A CBI Special Court, Ranchi, by on February 21, 2022, sentended RJD chief and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad to 5 year jail under section 120B of IPC 1998 Act 13(2) RW1 C&D in the biggest of Animal Husbandry scam case 47/A 96, involving  fraudulent withdrawal of over Rs 135 crore from Doranda Treasury, Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand state.
Special CBI judge S K Shashi also slapped a fine of Rs 60 lakh on Lalu in the case. The court had convicted Lalu and 74 others in the case on February 15, 2022.  This is the fifth Fodder Scam case in which Lalu has been convicted. The trial of the sixth case involving Lalu has been begun in Patna, Bihar. Lalu was first convicted  in 2013 followed by in 2017 and then in January and March 2018 respectively.
Talking the mediapersons Lalu elder son Tej Pratap said that his father has been wrongly convicted and his lawyer will move the higher courts against the judgment. The RJD chief is on bail in three fodder scam cases in which he was convicted earlier. Lalu is a former Union Minister too.
