Patna : The JD(U) headed by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will contest the Gujarat Assembly polls on its own though it is one of the constituents of the NDA. It had also contested the 2012 Gujarat Assembly polls on its own despite being an NDA constituent and won a seat. The lone JD(U) MLA in Gujarat has sided with rebel JD(U) leader Sharad Yadav, MP.

According to JD(U) General Secretary K C Tyagi, MP, the party will field its candidates from its traditional seats without forming any alliance with any political party. The Gujarat Assembly polls will be held in two phase on December 9 and December 14, 2017.
