Patna : In what is being viewed as a major boost to the NDA in the state, its constituent JD(U) on November 2, 2021, retained both the Tarapur ( Munger) and Kusheshwar Asthan( Darbhanga) assembly seats the bypolls to which were held on October 30, 2021.
The bypolls results are a setback to the RJD as the party failed to get a single seat even as its suprememo and RJD chief Lalu Prasad campaigned for the party candidates.
The JD(U) candidate Rajiv Kumar Singh won the Tarapur seats defeating RJD nominee Arun Kumar by 3,852 votes. The seat had fallen vacant following the death of sitting JD(U) member Mewalal Chaudhar.
JD(U) nominee Aman Bhushan Hazari won the Kusheshwar Asthan seat defeating RJD candidate Ganesh Bharti by 12,695 votes. The seat fell vacant following the death of sitting JD(U) member Shashi Bhushan Hazari. Aman Bhushan Hazari is son of Shashi Bhushan Hazari.
Union Minister Ram Chandra Prasad Singh, a former National President of JD(U), and former State JD(U) president Vashistha Narain Singh hailed the victory of party candidates in the bypolls saying it clearly indicated that the people appreciate the development works being done by CM Nitish Kumar. The people have rejected the family politics, said Vashistha Narain Singh.
