Bagaha : Lalmuni Devi, 21, wife of Rambalak Chaudhary, 24, son of Rambilas Chaudhary of village Pratappur under Simra police station in Bagaha police district was allegedly killed on March 8, 2018, by her in- laws for not bringing adequate dowry. The body of the woman was  burnt to ashes.
Police sources said that Lalmuni’s father Vijay Mahto, a resident of village Dumari under Gobardhana police station in Bagaha police district, has lodged a case against her in- laws in this connection. Police have arrested Sharda Devi, mother- in- law of the deceased, and sent her to jail on March 10, 2018.
SHO, Simra police station, Upender Mahto, said six persons including Lalmuni’s husband Rambalak have been made named accused. Lalmuni’s father Vijay Mahto, in his FIR, said he had married off his daughter with Rambalak Chaudhary about three years back and she had a three month old child too. Vjjay Mahto alleged that Lalmuni was frequently thrashed by her in-laws for a motorcycle as a dowry and as their demand was not met she was killed.
