Bagaga : Vivek Kumar Oraon, 12, son of  Ramesh  Uraon of village Dhirauli under Laukaria Police station under Bagaha Sub-Division in West Champaran District in North Bihar, was killed by a Crocodile on October 10, 2019, evening, when he was crossing river Haraha to meet his mother who was working in a paddy field across the river. 

Some labourers working on a bridge saw the Crocodile taking away Vivek Kumar Oraon deep into the rivers on October 10  evening and rushed to rescue him. They took him out of the jaw of the Crocodile. A Laukaria police station team reached the spot after getting information and brought the seriously injured Vivek over to Sub-Divisional Hospital, Bagaha, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

Forest Range Officer, Bagaha, Sanjiv Kumar, confirmed that the boy had been killed by the Crocodile. He said that the next of kin of the deceased would be given Rs 5 lakh after getting the autopsy report. Sources said that Crocodiles have created havoc in the area and the locals avoid even going near any river. or canals and prevent their cattle from to river for drinking water.
