Sasaram : A married woman committed suicide by setting herself ablaze at Kochas under Kochas police station in Rohtas district on August 14, 2018, as she was not allowed to go to her parents. Later, police brought the body over to Sadar Hospital, Sasaram, for post-mortem. Before succumbing to her burn injuries, she admitted before police that she had set herself afire.
SHO, Kochas police station, Nandan Kumar Singh said that Sulekha Devi, daughter of Gauri Sah of village Haimandihara under Bikramganj Sub-Division in Rohtas district was married to Anish Kumar Gupta this year. A few months after their marriage Anish Kumar Gupta went to Kolkata in search of job. After he went to Kolkata, Sulekha Devi asked her in-laws to send her to her parents but they hesitated and waited for an auspicious date. Sulekha Devi, however, insisted on going and when her demand was not fulfilled immediately, she sprinkled kerosene oil on her body and set herself ablaze. Her in-laws at once admitted her to the Primary Health Centre but she succumbed to her burn injuries there during treatment.
