Sasaram : Raj Kumari Devi, daughter of Lal Bahadur Singh of village Patkauli under Piro police station in Bhojpur district, was burnt to death at village Balihar under Suryapura police station in Rohtas district on August 8, 2017,  allegedly by her husband and in-laws for dowry. Police swung into action only after the father of the deceased reached there but found only her skeleton on her bed on August 8 evening and brought it to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

The doctors preserved the skeleton for sending the same to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Patna. Police also took the mother-in-law of the deceased under custody to interrogate her. A named FIR has been lodged with Suryapura police station against her husband and in-laws on the statement of her father Lal Bahadur Singh late August 8 evening.

SHO, Suryapura police station, Dhirendra Yadav, said that Lal Bahadur Singh of village Patkauli  under Piro police station in Bhojpur district married his daughter Raj Kumari Devi to Shakti Kumar Yadav, son of Ravindra Yadav of village Balihar under Suryapura police station in Rohtas district, in  2014. But, ever since she went to her in-laws’ house in May 2017 after `Gauna’, her husband and in-laws were allegedly putting pressure on her to to bring more cash. They also tortured her mentally and physically which she  had informed her parents and when their demands were not fulfilled they allegedly burnt her to death.
