Buxar : Mamata Devi, 37, mother of three children, was beaten to death at her in-laws’ place at village Bharauli under Navanagar police station in Buxar district on May 20, 2018, night. A named FIR has been lodged with police against her in-laws including father-in-law Rama Shankar Rai on the statement of deceased’s brother Binod Rai.
SHO, Navanagar police station, Junaid Alam, said that Mamata Devi, wife of Bagawat Rai (Rajbhar) of village Bharauli under Navanagar police station, had returned to her in-laws’ place on May 20 evening from her parents’ place at Khirauli village under Dumraon police station. The same night, her mother-in-law and sister-in-law had tiff with Mamata Devi and both allegedly thrashed and killed her.
After killing her, all the family members escaped from the scene leaving her three minor children: Manu Kumar, 7, daughter Priti, 5, and a one year old son near her body. He said that police brought the body over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
