W Champaran DM inspects anti – ersion work in Bagaha

Bagaha : West Champaran DM Lokesh Kumar Singh on July 20, 2017, suddenly visited Mirjatola locality under Bagaha Nagar Parishad and inspected the on going anti- erosion work being carried out by Bagaha Flood Control Division of Water Resources Department for the last five days last as the erosion by river Gandak continues. The river has eroded its left bank in ward number 26 (Mirjatola) in a stretch of about 20 feets.

The DM, who was accompanied by Bagaha SP and SDM, directed Chief Engineer, D K Chaudhary, who was presnt on the spot with subordinate engineer, that residential areaa must be protected at  any cost. A large number of people including Hasim Mian, a former Ward Councillor, told the DM that anti-erosion was not being carried out properly. On July 20 morning, residents of Mirjatola blocked NH 28(b) near cinema chowk paralysing road communication for an hour to protest tardy pace of anti-erosion work.
