Bagaha: One Faruque Mian of village Ekaderawa under Ramnagar police station in Bagaha police district was on August 24, 2018, sent to jail for allegedy supplying Gutkha to inmates of Bettiah jail.
Sources said that DM, West Champaran, Nilesh Ramchandra Deore, and SP Jayant Kant had jointly inspected Bettiah district jail on August 23 evening and found a bag of Gutkha in the generator room. On the direction of DM, BDO, Bettiah, Basant Kumar, had lodged an FIR against Head Warden (Kakshpal), Head clerk of Bettiah jail Sudhanshu Kumar, and three prisoners: Ramchandra Yadav, Suresh Yadav, and Kamran Mian, holding them responsible for irregularities and mismanagement in the jail,
On the other hand, Head clerk of Bettiah jail Sudhanshu Kumar had also lodged an FIR the same day against one of the visitors Faruque Mian alleging that he used to visit jail gate, met the prisoners and secretly supplied Gutkha hidden in rice bag to them.
