Muzaffarpur : A man riding a bicycle was crushed to death by a speeding truck at Chitri Chowk on Saraiya – Turki road in Muzaffarpur district on October 11, 2017, morning. The deceased was identified as Mohd Hashim, 28, a residnt of village Atroulia under Saraiya police station in the district. Hashim was returning home from Chitri Chowk after shopping. The villagers seized the truck though its driver tried to escape with the vehicle. But, the truck driver managed to escape.

Angry over the death of Mohd Hashim in the accident, the locals put the body on a cart and blocked the traffic on NH 102 near Moti chowk for about three hours. Saraiya BDO Mohd Asif Alam and SHO, Saraiya PS, Mohd Alauddin, tried to pacify the mob but they refused to lift the blockade. They were demanding compensation to the next of kin of the deceased besides presence of senior officials on the spot. The BDO paid Rs 20,000 to the kin of the deceased after which the blocakde was lifted. The BDO has recommended for a compensation of Rs 4 lakh to the family of the deceased.
