Two criminals arrested in Ara goldsmith murder case

Ara : Police, on a tip off, arrested two criminals on April 4, 2017, in connection with murder of a goldsmith Harishankar Soni, 35, on Saraiya – Ara main road under Ara Muffassil police station on March 24, 2017, evening. The arrested criminals were identified as Rajdeo, son of Bhim Prasad of Ujiar Tola under Town Police Station, Ara, and Raja, son of Birendra Kumar of Meerachak under Town Police Station.

Police also seized a countrymade pistol, two live rounds and a motorcycle from their possession. Two others : Uday Kumar of Meerachak and Vikas Sharma, son of Kisto Sharma of Maruti Nagar under Town police station, are still evading arrest.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh said that some criminals had shot dead Harishankar Soni near Shobhi Dumara village on Saraiya-Ara main road under Ara Muffassil police station on March 24, 2017, evening, when he was returning home on his motorcycle. The deceased was a resident of Tari Mohalla under Town police station and son of Bharat Sah.

Harishankar Soni had gone to Saraiya Bazaar along with Bharat Kumar of Ramgarhia locality as ever on his motorcycle on March 24 for collection but was returning alone in the late evening the same day. When he reached near Shobhi Dumara village on Saraiya-Ara main road, four armed criminals on two motorcycles intercepted him and looted all the belongings including cash and gold. When he protested, they shot at him and escaped with the booty. The villagers and police brought the injured to Ara Sadar Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries on way to hospital.

The SP said that he got information that the some criminals were hiding in their houses. He immediately formed a police team under the SDPO Sanjay Kumar which conducted raids and arrested two miscreants. The SP said that the arrested criminals admitted their involvement in the murder of Harishankar Soni. During their interrogation, they said that Uday Kumar of Meerachak had worked as liner while Vikas Sharma led the mission.
