Truck carrying animal leather seized in Bhojpur, driver held

Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, seized a truck carrying animal leather near village Rajapur under Koelwar police station on March 22, 2018, and arrested the truck driver.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar said that he got information that a truck laden with animal leather was parked at Rajapur village under Koelwar police station. He immediately sent a police team there that seized the truck and leather and also arrested the driver.

Seeing leather of animals, the locals got agitated and broke the windowpan of the truck. But, police pacified them. The SP strongly denied the truck was carrying beef. The truck driver said that he and other drivers lift leather of animals twice in a day from Siwan for Kolkata allegedly with the help of police personnel giving them Rs 5,000 per trip.
