Arwal : A mob attacked Kaler Police Station (PS) in Arwal district on March 21, 2018, and damaged vehicles after one Pawan Sao, arrested in connection with a dacoity case, allegedly committed suicide in police custody after March 20, 2018, midnight. SHO, Kaler Police Station, Rituraj Singh, has been suspended in the wake of alleged suicide by Pawan Sao. Pawan Sao was arrested on March 20, 2018, evening.
Trouble began on March 21 morning after Pawan Sao allegedly consumed poison inside a cell of Kaler police station. As the news about his death spread, angry locals attacked the police station, damaged vehicles and set ablaze a generator besides blocking traffic on NH 98.
The situation was brought under control after senior officials including Arwal DM and SP reached the spot and assured the protesters of a probe into the matter. A seven-member team has been constituted to look into the entire incident, according to a police official. Arwal SDPO said that the situation was normal and well under control now. Kaler, bordering Aurangabad district, is about 91 km away from state capital Patna.
