Ara : Resentment prevails among the relatives and family members of slain Yogendra Tatwa, a newspaper hawker, as police did not hand over the body to his family members after post-mortem and performed his last rites themselves. Heavy police force has been deployed at village Karnamepur under the leadership of ASP, Ara, Dayashankar Singh.
Meanwhile, Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar has line closed SHO, Karnamepur police outpost, Dhananjay Singh, and appointed SI, Ara Town police station, Ravindra Singh, as the SHO of Karnamepur police outpost. The SP also suspended the former SI, Karnamepur police outpost, Shambhu Singh, the present SHO, Tier police station, for dereliction of duty.
A named FIR has been lodged with Karnamepur police utpost against four persons of village Ramdatahi on the statement of Meena Devi, wife of the deceased, in connection with murder of Yogendra Tatwa. ASP Dayashankar Singh said that a separate FIR will be lodged against at least 500 persons for vandalism, stone pelting and burning of police jeeps.
Some unidentified armed persons had shot dead Yogendra Tatwa, son of Shankar Tatawa of Ramdatahi village under Shahpur police station, near Bus Stand under Karnamepur police outpost, when he was going to distribute papers in the morning on January 17, 2018. After his murder, the villagers and family members went on rampage and started pelting police with stones and also raised slogans against the SHO. The mob set ablaze three police jeeps and a ‘Vajra Vahan’. They also entered the police station and damaged properties. Police had to open 25 rounds of fire in the air to disperse the unruly mob.
Meena Devi said that the miscreants had killed Rajendra Tatwa, son of Ram Sakal Prasad of Ramdatahi village and cousin brother of Yognedra Tatwa, 4 months ago at the village. She said that the miscreants had shot at and injured him on September 7, 2017, over a piece of land and he succumbed to his injuries on November 2, 2017. But, police did not take any action against the accused even as an FIR was lodged against eight persons including Bijesh Rai though police said that three accused were arrested in the case. She said that her husband was a witness in the case and the miscreants had threatened him with dire consequences three days ago.
ASP Dayashankar Singh said that the accused would be arrested at the earliest and added Shambhu Singh was the Investigating Officer (IO) in the murder of Rajendra Tatawa and so he has been suspended.
Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar that police had to open fire in the air to disperse the unruly mob. He said that Shambhu Singh had not handed over the charge of Rajendra Tatwa murder case even after his transfer from Karnamepur police outpost.The SP and the ASP are of the opinion that some liquor mafias had taken advantage of the situation and instigated the people to resort to violence.
Meanwhile, a CPI(ML) team led by its Tarari MLA Sudama Prasad visited Karnamepur on January 18 demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.
