Giridih: Nakul Raut, 41, sustained serious bullet injuries after motorcycle borne criminals shot at him near Paprawatand locality under Giridih muffasil police station early on Wednesday morning. Nakul Raut, a resident of Maheshlundi under the same PS areas, was referred to Bokaro General Hospital after initial treatment at  Giridih Sadar hospital. His condition is said to be serious.

The incident took place around 7 am when Raut, a supervisor in a private company at Mohanpur based industrial area in Giridih, along with one of his colleagues Prakash Sao was going to his work place. According to the police, the miscreants were waiting for them near a culvert to loot about Rs 1 lakh that they were carrying to distribute among the company workers.

 “According to the statement given by his colleague and information procured from other sources, as soon as the duo reached near the culvert, they were attacked by at least three criminals who were standing beside the main road on two motorcycles,” said DSP RK Mehta adding that the district police had got strong lead in this regard.  “ The criminals  actually fired four rounds. While, three missed the target, the last one hit Raut’s hip though he sped up his bike and continued driving. The miscreants failed in their mission to snatch the cash,” said Prakash Sao, who was assaulted by the miscreants.

It was the second such incident in the past fortnight in Giridih. On May 22 evening, criminals had shot at the staff of a wine retailer at Bhabhantoli under town police station and looted Rs 12 lakh from him. Rajkumar Gupta, who had sustained bullet injuries, was admitted to Giridih Sadar hospital.
