Patna :  North Eastern Railway (NER), Gorakhpur,  GM Rajiv Misra  has been given the additional charge of  GM, East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur,  following elevation of the ECR GM A K Mittal  as Railway Board member( engineering). Mittal  joined Railway Board on Wednesday.

Misra  joined Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineering in Northern Railway as an officer of 1978 batch through Special Class Railway Apprentices (SCRA). During service, Misra did post graduation in Management from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmadabad. He has successfully discharged duty  in  various important positions like ADRM, Moradabad, Chief Workshop Manager, Lower Parel, Chief Motive Poser Engineer/Diesel (Western Railway), Chief Rolling stock Engineer (Western Railway), DRM, Ahmadabad, Chief Safety Officer, Central Railway, Chief Administrative Officer, WPO,Patna and Chief Administrative  Officer, Rail Wheel Plant, Bela (Chhapra). He had  worked in  Northern Railway, Western Railway, Central Railway, IRIMEE, Jamalpur, Munger and RDSO, Lucknow.

Besides, Misra  was appointed as one man committee to review periodical overhauling (POH) periodicity of ICF Coaches in 2002. His recommendation for increasing POH periodicity from 12 to 18 months was implemented by the Railway Board in 2007. He  had an opportunity to visit United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, France, Holland, Italy, USA and Maxico for technical and higher management training, ECR CPRO Arvind Rajak said adding  his  wide experience in railway management and administration contributed  to the growth of  Indian Railways.
