Patna: With the arrest of three persons, Patna Police on Saturday claimed to have busted a gang involved in managing central and state level competitive examinations through `setting’ after fleecing huge cash from unemployed youth.

Police also recovered 15 readymade devices, 13 bluetooth, 90 earphones, four sim cards, 10 bluetooth batteries, one  printer, one laptop, one tab, one soldering machine, a drier, one driller machine, three bundles of copper wire, seven ATM cards, one cutter, one flat Bluetooth device, an external hard device, 10 cellphones besides several important documents from the possession of the arrested youth, said Patna Senior SP (SSP) Mannu Maharaaj.

A special police team constituted by SSP after getting information on January 28, 2017, had arrested five persons engaged in setting at competitive examinations of central as well state level. Acting on the revelations made by the arrested persons and information gathered from different sources, SSP constituted another team to arrest other persons engaged in this racket. Since the matter concerned the students, SSP was himself monitoring every movement in the case.

The police team came to know that this particular gang was not only active in Bihar but has also spread its wings in other states. It came to know that some members of the gang had taken shelter in Agamkuan locality and were fleecing huge cash from unemployed youth for settings at different competitive examinations.The members of the team in civies reached a rented house at Mahatma Gandhi Nagar, Kanti Factory Road under Agamkuan police station. They saw some persons moving around the house in suspicious manner. A raid was carried out by the members of police at the rented house and the cops were stunned to see electronic devices meant for fitting in undergarments.

During interrogation, one of the arrested youth Pawan Kumar revealed that the members of the gang had planned to distribute these devices among the candidates. He said that a particular device is fitted inside the clothes of the candidates and its wire is connected with a mechanized sim of Samsung cellphone placed in the shoe of the candidate. “We used to make a call to the candidates from a secluded place and all of them were put on conferencing and answers were dictated to them,” police said quoting Pawan.

Police said that the arrested youth revealed the name of their other associates and raids were on to arrest them. Sensing the gravity of the revelations, SSP has directed the police team to investigate every aspect of the case for the  arrest of other members of the gang. SSP said that the gang members used to collect Rs 4 lakh to Rs. 6 lakh from every candidate.

The arrested youth were identified as Pawan Kumar, a native of Machariyawan under Fatuha police station, Patna, Bipin Kumar, a native of Kurhwapar under Nagarnausa police station in Nalanda, and Navneet Kumar, a native of Ahirauliya under Kotwa in East Champaran.
