Patna: Police on Saturday resorted to lathicharge to disperse a mob that had blocked NH-2, pelted the police team
with stones to protest the killing of a private school teacher Kamlakant Choubey, a native of village Pokhara under Barun police station in Aurangabad district late on September 23 night. Choubey was living at
Dharmasala Chowk under Town police station.
One Ajit Kumar Singh had a heated argument with Nitish Choubey late on Friday night over some trivial issue. As
Kamlakant, a neighbour,  intervened, Ajit attacked him with a sharpedged weapon killing him on the spot. The incident took place hardly a few metres away from the local police station.
As the news of the murder spread in the locality on Saturday morning, the residents blocked National Highway-2 (NH-2) to protest the insensitive attitude of the local police. They were also demanding immediate arrest of the killer.
On getting information, the local police reached the spot. But, the locals pelted them with stones forcing them to retreat. Finding the situation going out of control, Sadar SDPO P N Sahu rushed therewith reinforcement. The cops resorted to lathicharge to disperse the mob.
Sahu said that an FIR had been lodged against Ajeet Singh, Babloo Singh and Sanjay Singh in this connection with the Town police station. He said that a separate complaint would be lodged for the rowdism on NH-2.
