Ara : Police, on a tip off, conducted raids at village Ratnadh under Gadhani police station in Bhojpur district and arrested two suspected naxals along with two countrymade pistols and four live cartridges in the wee hour on February 22, 2019. The arrested naxals were identified as Rajendra Paswan and his son Ravi Paswan of village Ratnadh.

Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar on February 24, 2019, said that he got information that about five naxals had come to Ratnadh under Gardhani police station. He immediately formed a police team under ASP (Operations) Nitin Kumar and asked it to arrest the naxals. The police team conducted raids around midnight on February 21, 2019, and arrested two naxals along with firearms and live cartridges in the wee hour on February 22. The SP said that about a week ago, about 40 to 50 naxals had assembled at Ratnadh village and were planning naxal activities in the area but all of them disappeared by the time police reached there. The SP said that police are trying to get information from the arrested naxals as to what was their intention.

On the other hand, the arrested naxals Rajendra Paswan and Ravi Paswan said that they had long standing enmity over a piece of land with an RJD leader who had threatened to implicate them in false cases if they did not demolish the boundary of their houses. Ravi Paswan alleged that police at the behest of the said RJD leader entered his house around midnight and when they did not find any objectionable items, they went to the roof and shouted that two pistols were found there.

Ravi said he is a B.Ed student in Veer Kuer Singh University, Ara, and he and his father have nothing to do with naxal activities. He alleged that the police also thrashed them and broke the hand of his father.
