Sasaram : Rohtas police foiled bid of bank loot on December 15 afternoon by arresting 10 members of an inter- state gang of criminals. Police also seized nine mobiles, two bikes, two wrist watches, gold chains and Rs 3,300  cash. After interrogation, police forwarded them to jail.

SHO, Town Police Station, Sasaram, Sunil Kumar said that after demonetization patrolling around all the banks had been intensified and on December 15 afternoon, he got information that some miscreants had gathered near SBI, PNB and sother banks. He immediately swung into action and arrested three miscreants from PNB and four near SBI branches on Pali road and three near Bandhan Bank branch.

The arrested persons were identified as Birendra Prasad alias Ghatawa Purnwasi of Bagaha, Dehri, Shailendra Chaudhary of Baligaon, Rajpur, Om Prakash Gupta, New Dilia, Dehri, Anil Prasad of New Dilia, Atul Paswan of New Dilia, Md Aslam Quraishi and Sonu Kumar of Barah Patthar, Dehri, Jainendra Chaudhary of Baligao, Rajpur, Pradip Mahto of Kuraich, Mahavir Sthan in Sasaram and Bhardul Thakur of Mohammadganj, Gadhwa in Jharkhand.

The SHO said that Bhardul Thakur is historysheeter and was involved in several cases of murder, loot, dacoity and ganja smuggling. He had been to jail more than once. Bhardul Thakur confessed before the police that he had earlier looted customers returning drawing money from the bank. The SHO said that the arrested miscreants were on police radar and were absconding for long.
