Mukhias stage dharna at Ara

Ara : Over 150 mukhias staged day long dharna in front of the office of the Bhojpur District Magistrate (DM) under the banner of Bhojpur Mukhia Sangh on June 14, 2017, in protest against the alleged move of the state government to downgrade the Gramsabha and curtail powers of mukhias..

Rajeshwar Paswan, secretary, Mukhia Sangh, alleged that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar was trying to do away with the Gramsabhas. He alleged that the CM had been misguided by his MLAs without knowing the ground reality as he never interacts with the mukhias and the ward members. Paswan  said that the government should send the fund to the account of the beneficiaries directly to discourage the middlemen.
