Ara : Hundreds of labourers, who have been rendered unemployed due to ban on sand mining in different rivrs,  blocked Ara -Patna main road near Ahirpurva locality under Town police station, Ara, on August 30, 2017, for about three hours. They burnt tyres and paralysed movement of vehicles on the road.

Due to ban imposed by the National Green Tribunal on sand mining in different rivers including  river Sone last year, the sand labourers were rendered jobless. The sand labourers said that the government had allowed to  dig sand at half a dozen sites on the bank of river Sone at Sahar and Sandesh but later Bhojpur district administration imposed banned on it as two groups clashed over the possession of raiyati land leading to river bank.
