Gurmeet Ram Rahim sentenced to 10 yr imprisonment in rape case

Patna : Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, 50,  was on August 28, 2017, sentenced to 10 year imprisonment in a 2002 rape case by a Special CBI court. He was convicted in the case on August 25 by Special CBI Court, Panchkula, Haryana.

CBI Judge Jagdeep Singh pronounced the sentence in a special court room set up inside the Sunaria jail where Ram Rahim is lodged his conviction in the case on August 25. The judge was brought to Rohtak by a chopper from Chandigarh and landed in a helipad near the jail located on the outskirts of Rohtak.The special courtroom within the jail was set up on the instructions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Ram Rahim is likely to move high court to challenge his conviction in the case.
