Bagaha : Four poachers identified as Mustafa Mian, Jindal Mian, Saifuddin and Noor Alam of village Katayee Bharpurwa under Jataha police station in Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh were arrested on March 17, 2017,  with 40 kg of hunted meat of Blue Bull (Nilgai) from Bauk Gandak diara under Bagaha Sub-division in West Champaran district.
Madanpur forest Range officer under Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve Anand Kumar on March 17 said that he was informed that a group of poachers had entered the Gandak diara area for hunting wildlife after which he along with his associates started searching for them and found that five persons were fleeing on bicycles keeping Nilgai meat in their bags. The forest officials and staff chased and arrested four of them with 40 kgs of Nilgai meat but one Guddu Mian managed to escape.
Range Officer Anand Kumar said a case has been lodged under various sections of the Wildlife Protection Act and the four poachers were sent to Bagaha sub- jail the same day. The forest department personnel also seized  five cycles, he said.
