Ara : Floral tributes were paid to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his sesquicentennial birth anniversary on October 2, 2018. Political leaders, teachers, professors, social workers and officials paid their tributes to him on the occasion. Cleanness drive and Open Defecation Free (ODF) programme were organized at Ara town and different villages to mark the occasion.

Bhoupur DM Sanjeev Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr Siddheshwar Singh and others garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the campus of Sadar Hospital, Ara. Speaking on the occasion, the DM said that Mahatma Gandhi succeeded in getting independence from the Britishers through non-violent method and he never yielded before injustice and appealed the people to follow his footsteps for maintaining unity, integrity and communal harmony in the country. Later, the DM awarded persons who excelled in ensuring cleanness in their respective areas and declaring the areas ODF.
