Saharsa : Dev Narayan Yadav, 60, a resident of Kahra Kuti under Sadar Police Station, Saharsa, died on September 22, 2017, evening, when a bike rider rammed him at Kahra Kuti when he was crossing the road. The locals tried to rush him to Saharsa Sadar Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital. Police seized the bike and took the bike rider into their custody. The pillion rider managed to escape.

Dev Narayan Yadav’s family members said that he had returned to his Kahra Kuti residence from his native village Birjain on September 22 morning itself. He was going to the market to purchase vegetables when the speeding bike dashed him. The bike rider was coming from Bariyahi Bazaar and was going to Saharsa. The deceased is survived by three sons two of whom work in Delhi while the youngest son runs a school near Kahra Kuti but he too had left for Delhi on September 21. Police have started investigation into the incident.

5,134 bottles of IMFL Seized : Simribakhtiarpur police seized 5,134 bottles of IMFL from apick up van at village Balthi in Saharsa district on September 21 night. The pick up van had brought the liquor from Haryana. A resident of village Balthi and liquor trader Bhushan Singh had placed the order for the liquor to sale it during Sussehra, said SHO, Simribakhtiarpur police station, Rakesh Kumar Singh.

The SHO said that the pick up van belongs to one Sachchidanand Singh of village Golma under Saur Bazaar police station in Saharsa district. The pick van owner has also been made a named accused in the case registered by police in this connection.
