Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : DPS Bokaro, in association with Pearson, organized a workshop on ‘ Classroom Discipline and Management of Emotional and Behavioural Disorders’ recently to understand the ‘Role of the teacher as a Facilitator’.

Paromita Mitra Bhowmik, an eminent psychologist with more than two decades of experience as a resource person for training and development, a corporate trainer, was the resource expert on the occasion. Paromita is  a registered rehabilitation psychologist who was also awarded ‘The Rising Leadership Award 2017’ in Psychology.

More than 140 teachers participated in this learning experience. Highlighting the paradigm shift in the modern learning, Paromita emphasised on the importance of 4 Cs viz. Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration and Creativity. Through various interactive and innovative activities, she deliberated on some pertinent issues related to the latest pedagogy which included Inclusive Education, Classroom Management, Positive Criticism, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), MI (Multiple Intelligence), etc.

Principal, DPS Bokaro, A S Gangwar,  said, “In the present scenario it becomes imperative for the teachers to identify the needs of the students and cater them accordingly. If a child cannot learn the way we teach, we should teach them the way, they can learn. It is high time we take our focus off disabilities and shift it to the abilities.”
