Bagaha : Distribution of relief materials and cash among flood affected people in West Champaran district is proving to be a tough task for officials of the district administration as they continue to face resistance from those whose names do not figure in the list of beneficiaries.

The flood affected persons on September 8, 2017, blamed Mukhiya and Ward members of respective panchayats for tampering with the list of beneficiaries.About five hundred flood victims including women of Patilar, Chandarpur-Ratwal, Sisawa -Basantpur and Bhairoganj panchayats under Bagaha-1 block in West Champaran on September 8 staged gherao of the block office. They were so aggressive that BDO Shashibhusan Suman and Circle Officer Rajakishor Sahu had to leave the office and work of both the offices remained paralysed on the day.

The flood affected people of Meghauli, Bisunpurawa and Bhitaharawa panchayat under Gaunaha block had  blocked main road leading to block headquarters on September 7 evening. BDO, Gaunaha, Shrikant Thakur and CO,Gaunaha, Pradip kumar Sinha who reached the spot to pacify them to face strong protest from them. According an official report received from Disaster Management Department office,Bagaha Sub-division, altogether 47,209 families under seven blocks of the sub-division have been affected by the flood and cash amount at the rate of Rs 6,000 per family has been deposited into the bank account of 4,548 families so far.
