Gopalganj: A retired BSNL employee Pradyuman Prasad Srivastava was relieved of Rs 26,000 cash by some criminals on NH-28 at Barauli in Gopalganj district on December 21.
Police said that Srivastava, a native of village Bankat, had gone to a local bank to draw his pension. As he left the bank after drawing Rs 24,000 and reached near Chirai Ghar Stand, some youth who were waiting in a four-wheeler, asked him to ride the vehicle saying they would drop him to his place. They also told Srivastava that he would have to pay the fare. Police said that as Srivastava boarded the four-wheeler, the criminals assaulted him and snatched Rs 24,000 and Rs 2,000, which he was already carrying in his pocket, from him. The youth kicked him out of the vehicle on NH-28 between Mahammadpur and Dumariya.
Srivastava reached Barauli police station and narrated the incidents to the policemen. The cops asked him to lodge a complaint with Gopalganj police station as the incident had taken place under their jurisdiction. Srivastava said that he would lodge a complaint with the police station concerned on December 22.
