Darbhanga:  After inter-change of block level returning officers by the DM-cum- district returning officer Chandra Shekhar Singh, counting of the ballot papers for the election to  different posts under three tier panchayati raj system started on Thursday in 18 blocks of Darbhanga district.

The district held panchayat elections in 10 phases ending on May 30 last. The blocl development officers (BDOs) conducted the election  being block returning officer of their respective blocks. For counting
process, inter-change of block returning officers was effected in the district meaning thereby that a BDO, who conducted election in his block, will be the counting incharge in another block. This has been done to  bring high transparency in the counting process, which will be completed in three to four days.
