Commissioner shocked to see appalling condition of Munger Sadar hospital

Munger: “I have visited many districts of this division including Jamui and Sheikhpura, but I have not seen such a mess which prevails at Munger Sadar hospital at the divisional hedquarters,” said divisional commissioner, Munger, Navin Chandra Jha seeing the appalling condition of the sadar hospital after inspecting it on Tuesday.

The commissioner along with the Munger DM Uadaya Kumar Singh made a thorough inspection of the hospital. MUnger civil surgeon-cum- chief medical officer Dr Shreenath and deputy superintendent Dr Rakesh Sinha accompanied the commissioner.  Commissioner Jha said that the sadar hospital, Munger, is not even at par with Jamui and Sheikhpura sadar hospitals when he found that the Intensive care unit(ICU) of the sadar hospital, Munger, was lying non functional for months with a board hanging on the door.

Civil surgeon Dr Shreenath said that the ICU was non- functional because no trained doctor was available for that unit. Incidentally, only a few months back, three medical officers of Munger sadar hospital were trained and deputed for the unit.

The commissioner was surprised to learn that no patient suffering fracture had been  teeated with plaster slab in the operation theatre of the sadar hospital during the last few months even as a competent orthopaedic surgeon was posted there. The reply of the doctor concerned that plaster materials had not been supplied to the hospital by the government for a long time shocked the commisioner.

The commissioner told the CS to take steps to make available necessary equipments  and materials for the treatment of patients admitted to the hospital within a short time. He also said that he would monitor the progress every week and warned that he would not like to see such a mess at the hospital again adding he nows how to set the matter right.     The commissioner appreciated the interest taken by the medical oficers  and civil surgeons of Jamui and Sheikhpura sadar hospitals where all facilities of treatment were available to the patients.
