Patna: Bihar school examination board (BSEB)  chairman Lalkeshwar Prasad Singh is likely to be arrested in the Intermediate examination results scam, SIT officials said here on Wednesday. They said enough evidence has been found against Singh who submitted his papers to the Principal Secretary, education department earlier in the day. Police raided his house at Patna City but he could not be found. Senior SP, Patna,  Manu Maharaj said he was questioned on Tuesday.
Joint teams of Patna and Vaishali police on Wednesday took into custody, Principal of two government schools-one at Hajipur and another at Rajendra Nagar, Patna. They were centre superintendents of examination and evaluation centres for the students  of Vishun Rai Intermediate College from where the toppers appeared at the exam. The Senior SP said Bachcha Rai, director of the controversial college, is “absconding”.
Patna police searched the houses of the four toppers: Saurabh, Rahul, Ruby Rai and Shalini in Vaishali, but could not   find them. Police pasted notices on their houses asking the students whose names appear in the FIR filed with Kotwali police station to appear before the SIT by Wednesday evening failing which police would take strong action against them.
Shail Kumari,centre superintendent of the examination at Hajipur, and Rajendra Prasad, centre superintndent of evaluation of answer-sheets at Rajendra Nagar, told police manipulations were  found in the answer-sheets and their serial numbers were missing. The answer-sheets were returned to Patna from Bhabhua and Ara where they were to be examined .The evaluation centre was changed on the instructions of the BSEB chairman, they told the police.
Police detained two clerks and a peon of the examination centre besides two principals. Police also visited Bihar Intermediate council office on Wednesday and seized some papers. Controller of examinations and secretary of the council were also questioned.
Meanwhile, Anand Kishore, divisional commissioner, ,Patna has been given charge of the BSEB chairman.
