Boatman killed by liquor mafias at Koelwar

Ara : Police recovered body of a boatman near Semara Ghat under Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district and brought it over to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for post-mortem. The deceased was identified as Joginder Sahni of Islamganj under Maner police station in Patna district.

SHO, Koelwar police station, said that Joginder Sahni was a boatman. He allegedly used to inform police about the activities of liquor mafias. Infuriated, the liquor mafias put him into the boiled water and killed him. Later, they threw the body near Semara Ghat under Koelwar police station. The SHO said that on September 18, 2018, morning, some morning walkers saw his body and informed police.

When contacted, Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar, he said that police were investigating into the incident but categorically denied that the deceased was a police informer.
