Bettiah : Four criminals riding two bikes attacked the premises of Bhagawati Cement Trader, Majhaulia, under Majhaulia police station in West Champaran district in North Bihar, at around 9 am on October 26, 2018, and started firing on an employee of the firm Biggu Manjhi, 50, son of Sheomangal Manjhi, thinking he was proprietor Rabindra Kumar Kushwaha and fled away brandishing firearms. The incident  took place few metres away from Majhaulia police station around 9 am.
The seriously injured Biggu Manjhi was rushed to MJK District Hospital, Bettiah, where the doctors referred him to PMCH.
Soon after the incident, shopkeepers of Majhaulia market downed their shutters and paralsed Bettiah-Majhaulia road burning tyres and shouting anti- police slogans. On getting information about the incident, BJP MP from Paschimi Champaran Dr Sanjay Jaiswal and Prakash Rai, MLA from Chanpatia, reached the spot and persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade.
The RJD Majhaulia block unit president Surendra Mukhiya said that the trader was earlier threatened by a gang of criminals allegedly belonging to ‘Jai Mahakal’ group who pasted letter twice on the wall of business premises of the firm demanding Rs 25 lakh as ‘Rangdari’ (extortion amount). West Champaran SP Jayant Kant was informed by the traders about it but police did not take any action, he said.
DSP, Bettiah Sadar, Pankaj Rawat said that in the CCTV footage criminals were seen and on the basis of the footage, police are searching for them.
