Patna : Bihar Industries Association (BIA) thanked Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar for taking the decision make Patna Airport operational round the clock.

BIA President K P S Keshri stated that the association had continuously been urging the Centre and State authorities through letters & memorandums for providing 24 hours air service facility at Patna Airport. The decision to make Patna Airport 24 hours operational is a matter of joy for the people of the state. This will facilitate cheaper air service to the people, create scope for operation of more flights from Patna Airport and also provide relief to the Air Passengers from congestion of parking facility, Keshri said. He also appreciated the decision to start the project of Airport extension and new Terminal Building with five-level structure with 5 aero bridges for direct access to plane.

Keshri further added that besides 24 hours air service facility at Patna Airport, the association has been demanding Air Service facilities at some important towns in the state. Air services at different locations in the state will accelerate pace of economic – industrial activities which will help in bridging the development gap created within the state.

He recalled the MoU signed between State and Centre in the presence of BiharChief Minister and Union Civil Aviation Minister Raju in July 2017 for development of existing Airports at Bihta, Gaya, Purnia, Raxaul, Darbhanga and Muzaffarpur to facilitate regular air services under Regional Connectivity Scheme “UDAN”.
