Ara : Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar on August 26, 2018, suspended Havildar Bhupendra Singh and constable Ambika Paswan with immediate effect in connection with escape of a criminal from their custody from Ara Civil Court premises on August 25. He said that departmental proceeding will be initiated against them after thorough investigation.
The SP said police had brought a notorious criminal Neeraj Singh alias Golu alias Hero of village Bindwaga under Barhara police station, who was arrested for attempt to murder and under Arms Act, to Ara Civil Court on August 25 from Ara jail for production before the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate but he opened the manacles and escaped from police custody. He said that Neeraj Singh was arrested in connection with an attempt to murder of Subodh Kumar Singh at Barhara. The SP said that all the entry points had been blocked and police were conducting raids to arrest Neeraj Singh.
Rajesh Yadav, driver, Prisoners’ van, said that Neeraj Singh had come to the court in the van amidst tight security but escaped. It was said that Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar and SP Awakash Kumar were at a meeting at Ara Civil Court when the incident occurred.
Earlier, Lamboo Sharma had escaped from court hazat along with his associate Akhilesh Upadhyay after an explosion in which the bomb carrier woman Nagina Devi and a newly married constable Amit Kumar had died on January 23, 2015. After the bomb incident, Bhojpur police, had tightened security at the Ara Civil Court.
