Ara : Police, on a tip off, arrested a sharpshooter of Jharkhand Nand Kishor Singh alias Bablu Singh alias Mama from village Berath under Chauri police station in Bhojpur district on August 2, 2018, in connection with murder of Ranjay Singh, a close associate of an MLA from Jharia, Dhanbad, Jharkhand, Sanjeev Singh, and also attack on Bhojpur police. He was sent to jail on August 3 after interrogation.

Bhojpur SP Awakash Kumar on August 3 said that he got information that a notorious criminal Nand Kishor Singh, son of Braj Kumar Singh, had come to his native village Berath under Chauri police station. He immediately formed a police team that conducted raids at village Berath and arrested him when he was going to drop his children to a private school at the village. The SP said that after the court order, the Jharkhand and Bhojpur police took him on remand for interrogation and added that Jharkhand police may take him to Jharkhand on transit remand.

The SP stated that Ranjay Singh, a close associate of an MLA from Jharia in Dhanbad, in Jharkhand, was killed on January 29, 2017, and an FIR was lodged with Sarai Dhela police station in Dhanbad against some persons including Nand Kishor Singh, said to be a cook of late Neeraj Singh, cousin Sanjeev Singh, MLA. The SP said that Nand Kishor Singh was absconding and kept changing his hideout under different names.

The SP said that the Jharkhand police had come to Bhojpur to arrest Nand Kishor Singh, who had come to village Bhakura village under Ara Muffassil police station to attend the marriage ceremony of his niece on May 1, 2018, but escaped and police had to face the wrath of the villagers who pelted them with stones injuring half a dozen of them. A named FIR was also lodged with Ara Muffassil police station against Nand Kishor Singh for attacking police force at that time.

The SP said that Nand Kishor Singh had taken shelter in Nepal and Mauritius after committing crime in Jharkhand and Bhojpur.
